Complex problems require different and creative ways of problem solving. That is what we develop with the Design Thinking approach, as part of an international Erasmus+ project. In this project the Information Sciences education at Science Park collaborates with 7 European universities to increase interdisciplinary and creative thinking in higher education.
In the UvA Innovation Workshop you will learn about this creative approach. You will also use it to think about new combinations of science, art and/or humanities. In a team of students you will explore a complex problem, develop an original point of view, and built a first prototype to solve it.
An information society requires going beyond strict disciplinary boundaries and to combine fields of knowledge in order to deal with the societal challenges we face. In the UvA Innovation Workshop you will work on a challenge of how to improve education by increasing the creativity. As a design thinker your creative capacities will be addressed to make a difference in shaping the challenges in education.
The wokshop will also be a competition. The two winning teams will go to a one week International Innovation Bootcamp in Lublin, Poland, April 20-24, 2020. There you will work on complex challenges using the design thinking approach in an international context. Travel and stay will be paid for you by the EU project.
Note that the International Innovation Bootcamp will be most relevant for the development of your personal and professional skills in a complex world and will be a great experience for you.
Students from all disciplines (Sciences, Social Sciences, and the Humanities) are warmly invited to participate in the UvA Innovation Workshop, to join their knowledge, and to improve the world a little bit! You can complete the application form here.
