Programma

Drie presentaties

  • Evidence-based learning analytics interventions at the Open University UK (presentatie)
Bart Rienties, Institute of Educational Technology, Open University UK, reader in Learning Analytics and a programme director Learning Analytics
Abstract: The Open University UK uses learning analytics to improve its educational practice. In this presentation, I will share my perspectives about learning analytics and my experiences with working with more than 50 large-scale module teams for a period of two years. They have used real-time learning analytics data and tools to improve their modules. There is an urgent need to develop an evidence-based framework for learning analytics because the stakeholders need to manage, evaluate, and make their own decisions about which types of interventions work well and under which conditions. The Analytics4Action Evaluation Framework (A4AEF) that Open University UK is currently testing and implementing will be discussed.
  • Learning Analytics potential for FNWI
Bert Bredeweg, Universitair hoofddocent, Informatica instituut, FNWI, UvA
    Abstract

What is the potential of Learning Analytics for FNWI's education and how can that be realised? Past year, we worked on the COACH2 project, investigating the usability and effectiveness of Learning analytics in a small group of courses in the area of Computer Science. An architecture was developed and implemented, including a standalone Learning Record Store for data storage and easy access to miscellaneous data, Machine Learning techniques for determining relevant predictors, and a dashboard for informing learners. The overall approach was based on mirroring, the idea that learners see themselves operating in the context of their peers. The results were informative in terms of pro's and con's regarding the design and approach. This presentation will discuss the potential of Learning Analytics for FWNI's education based on experiences with COACH2 and related work in the context of UvAInform (UvA projects on Learning Analytics).
  • Learning analytics vanuit de perspectief van studenten
    Johnny Vogel (FSR, FNWI)

Panelleden: Bart Rienties, Bert Bredeweg, Johnny Vogel
